Tomato Plant Suckers

by Carrie
(Utah)

Q. Should I prune all the suckers from my tomato plants?

A. Pruning tomato plants can maximize the number, size, and flavor of your tomatoes. So some pruning can be very helpful to plants.

But don't over prune in hot climates. And go easy on pruning determinate varieties, because they set their fruit at one time - pruning can limit your yield.

And keep in mind that pruning is completely optional!
