Getting water down to the roots!

I insert a 3 X 24 inch PVC pipe, (that I have drilled holes in), into the hole of the tomato plant BEFORE I plant it. Once the tomato is planted, I can water right into the PVC pipe and get the water down to the roots, where it's needed.
